icon Interview with Joris Voorn Posted by teaser on 04-01-2009-22:08

The name Joris Voorn may not be familiar with those whom are oblivious to electronic music, but mention that name within the techno community and you will hear more than your fair share of praises. Throughout the past seven years, Joris has taken the electronic music community by storm with his inspiring Detroit influenced techno. Whether it's with releases such as Incident or his latest remix of the crossover dance hit Dark Flower, you will undoubtedly see this man's records sitting tucked neatly in your cherished record box. From his early work with Sino Records, to the birth of his eventual label - Green, Joris has undoubtedly shown no signs of letting up and continues to push the musical boundaries of electronic music. icon A tribute to... Phonique Posted by ginman on 23-12-2008-21:36

This Friday a minimalish tribute in which we pay our respects to Berlin producer and dj: Phonique.

After moving to Berlin in the mid 90’s, Michael Vater a.k.a Phonique was on the go like few others in Berlin. First he only organized parties, after a while he started to DJ himself: DJ Phonqiue was born.

Since January ‘98, Phonique continued to bring previously lesser known DJs and producers to Berlin for his club nights and parties, presenting many strong nights with DJs like Glen Gunner... (read more)

icon A tribute to... Juan Atkins Posted by ginman on 17-12-2008-21:37

Prepare for a very special tribute to one of the founders of the Detroit sound: Juan Atkins!

A major electronic music pioneer from Detroit, Juan appeared behind aliases such as Cybotron, Model 500 and Infiniti, and has released many classics of sublime Detroit techno, including the 1982 electro track "Clear". Recorded by Atkins and Rick Davis as Cybotron, this track is often considered the first proto-techno track. Experimenting with fusing the extra-terrestrial funk of Parliament Funkadelic with the futuristic rhythms and hard math of Kraftwerk and the progressive dance theorems proposed by Giorgio Moroder, the Model 500 12"s laid the blueprint for Detroit Techno.
